Are EBC brakes better than OEM? ›

EBC Greenstuff Brake Pads

It's ideal for hard driving (as well as daily driving). This line of brake pads is proven to perform better than OE pads. To be more specific, EBC Greenstuff brake pads: Give your car 15% more stopping power than OE pads.

EBC Yellow stuff pads work fine on the road for normal Driving and on track, green stuff also fine, but avoid red stuff . I have EBC yellow, decent pads when up-to temp (road use). Not good when cold, especially on my un-servo'd brakes.

Fast Street use Pre Bed Fade 1 – drive 50 to 100 miles on Public road/highway normal driving to allow the pads to mate up to the disc and establish full contact followed by 8 stops from 80 mph to 30 mph at 300-yard intervals and then coasting allowing the brakes to cool.

In sport use and for optimum braking we recommend changing pads when there is 3/16 th inch (4mm) of friction material left on the steel backing plate and not to wear the pads any lower. Pads and calipers start to overheat when friction material goes below this level.

Although EBC is quickly switching to its latest gen 3 silver grey disc rotors, all SG and SG2F disc rotors will remain in the gen 1 disc coating, for the foreseeable future. SG2F/SG2FC discs/rotors will have both a black ring and hub.

First of all, all race pads from EBC and every other brand are supplied without any shims at all, and EBC's titanium shims are advised for all brands of pad and will reduce heat transfer in the higher temperatures of racing. They are therefore a worthwhile investment.

Bluestuff has the added benefit of much faster bed in time and has a high friction coefficient without feeling grabby, taking things up a notch from EBC's Yellowstuff material by bringing superb pedal modulation to a track pad with even greater fade resistance.

The EBC's don't squeal when they are stone cold, and they don't squeal when they are hot (like track day hot). Everything in between they squeal under light or moderate pressure below 20 mph, essentially coming to a stop at any light.

Which brake pads are easiest on rotors? ›

Organic pads do not create the brake dust which coats the wheels as other brake pads do. They are easy on the brake rotors. With no metal parts, they don't grind down the brake rotor surface.

This new surface coating is a highly corrosion-resistant rust prevention coating and is now on all current production of EBC Brake rotors.

OEM brake pads and rotors are made for your car by the same engineers who designed it, which can provide some peace of mind. However, there are plenty of brake pad options from aftermarket brands like Duralast and Brembo that operate as good as the original equipment brakes, and often even better.

Each option has its own list of pros and cons. Genuine OEM parts typically offer better reliability, warranties and fitment than aftermarket parts. On the other hand, you have more variety with aftermarket or third-party auto parts, and they may even perform better than OEM components when towing large loads or racing.

The best were the original VW ones, but the Brembo are very close to the factory set. Oh and yes, I have used EBC along with the Pagid and Bosch. The EBC were meant to be low dust pads, but they were absolutely no different from anything else I'd used. The Pagid warped the front discs and the Bosch were fine.
