Without the subjects' permission, this may result in the distribution of CSAM. And such misuse is not only illegal in many countries but also profoundly harmful.

Notably, there's no federal law in the United States explicitly banning the creation of such deepfake p*rnography for adults, though generating these images of minors is illegal.

AI-generated content can't be copyrighted. Currently, the U.S. Copyright Office maintains that copyright protection requires human authorship, thus excluding non-human or AI works. Legally, the content that AI produces is the culmination of human creations.

If you want to use images that were created with AI, you need to have the permission of the person who created them or licensed them. Even though the US copyright office does not recognize AI as an author, it does recognize the human input and creativity that goes into generating the images.
