American Legion Clifton 8 al. Pompion Lakes 235 Paterson 360 at Paterson 187 Camps Stress Arts Win, Place, Show The Facts Of Racing By DON ZAMARELLI Turf Editor OCEANPORT No one need remind Peter Kissel of the realities in horse racing, "See this colt here," Kissel said at Monmouth Park yesterday pointing to Maei Cut In. "He was undefeated after a few starts as a 2-year-old. We thought he might be a really top horse. At least of stakes caliber.

But then it happened," "It?" "Yes. He broke a knee that had to be operated on in Kentucky." But that wasn't the last of Maei Cut In's difficulties. "We brought back at Hialeah last winter," the colt's owner continued, "and he won his first start in a suggesting he might manner, be a good steady horse. "However, he cut himself badly in that race, and took some time running back to the that Hialeah race." Maei Cut In showed flashes of his 2-year-old form when he trounced a solid field of allowance sprinters among them the stakes-winning Social Song in his second start here. "That race prompted us to try him in the Rumson tomorrow," Kissel returned.

"If he runs good in that If Maei Cut In handle stakes company again as he a juvenile, it will probably mean finis to his grass career for now. "We tried him on the grass in start here, if you remember," Kissel, a native of Pottersville i in Morris County, reminded his visitor. "He was running well when he suddenly bolted. "I think it was a matter of not changing leads on the turn. It certainly caught the boy by surprise.

Horses will do that and in this case it might have been the colt's unfamiliarity with the grass that caused it." But he doesn't any trouble changing stride" on dirt, and he might be a peck of trouble, for his Rumson playmates this day. "I hope so," Kissel smiled crossing his fingers. There are still openings for the August program. The camps take in 730 children 3 to 17 years of age from Bergen County. The program includes art, drama, music, swimming, and other sports.

"Athletics, like arts, have to be taught with idea of going one step further," Mrs. Weissman said. "If a boy can throw a ball will teach him about the organized game, then the interrelationship between player and team, and finally the history of the game." The provides partial scholarships to help parents send their children. For further information contact Mrs. Weissman at.
